The Telling

An audiobook studio for the long shelf.

The Telling is the voice-production studio of SphereCaster Press. It takes written canon — a chapter, a play, a whole book — and renders it as a spoken edition: chosen voice, measured pacing, the restraint a mythic text asks for. It was built inside the press, for the press's own work, and is being opened slowly to others who want to give their writing a voice.

The Telling is in preview. Access is invited in small numbers while the studio is tuned. Ask to be let in, and we will write when a place opens.

The voices in this audiobook are synthetic. No part of this recording captures a human reading aloud; what you hear was generated by text-to-speech and shaped to a single register.

The tool that produced it — The Telling — was built by the author himself, Todd R. G. Hill, rather than commissioned from a studio. The book and the means of its speaking come from the same hand.

The speech was synthesized using Gemini TTS, voiced through “Hazel Hill,” a proprietary voice crafted by the author for this work. The voice is fully synthetic: it is not a recording of a performer and does not reproduce the voice of any living person or hired talent. No human performer was recorded for this audiobook.

A made voice is not a lesser one, only an honest one. We tell you it is made so that you may listen without being deceived, and trust the telling for what it is.
